however, for whatever reason, the community seems to hold official content as the bear minimum of quality of a mod. I am guessing this is because there is actual quality official content to hold mods to as sort of an assessment of how good they are. In beam, it seems that mods are held to an extremely high standard. So when a mod was released, normally you just got 1, maybe 2 trucks. you want a different bumper? That's an entirely different truck file. Plus there was no way to make extra parts for vehicles. it was a free game with ultra minimal official content.
I think the real reason that BeamNG modding hasn't really taken off is because of the expectation of content, the quality that is expected by the community, and the serious lack of documentation.īack in the RoR days, when you would make a mod, people didn't expect perfection. Bring back the glory days of ROR through BeamNG, because BeamNG has great potential in being another legendary, (underrated) game. Sure, maybe a game from more than 10 years ago has all the modders grown up however, my purpose of this is to call somebody, or inspire, to fill the void that is missing in BeamNG. I remembered all the good times driving busses, trucks, and that Russian Jeep, but today 7 years later, mod development hasn’t really gone the way of the old fashioned (oldie but goodie) Busses, Cranes, and Planes.
I remember the comments on Steam 7-8 years ago now, I was particularly excited about it too. And Rigs of Rods topped off to its outstanding 5 player per server.īeamNG at its beginning was a very exciting project for all Rigs of Rods players. I mean look how many different K5s you can find on the repository. This is only one example, there are many other types of vehicles missing from this game.īack when Rigs of Rods started to slow down, I believe most of the new model development went to (original) Spin Tires. Right now, there are only 2 school bus models I can find, and they are definitely not comparable to the highly detailed ROR models (as low res as they are). More so, a comparison to their weird lost Uncle game, Rig of Rods, back in the day it used to be a never ending line up of vehicles. I’m not talking about game development because that gets better every year.
